  1. A sense of passion and enthusiasm, not only for the specific role but also for the aims of your company.
  2. A respect for timeliness, deadlines and professional courtesies.
  3. The ability to effectively communicate ideas and collaborate with others.
  4. The willingness to volunteer for activities that may be outside of the role’s requirements.
  5. The desire to ask for help or ask questions.
  6. An ability to receive and apply feedback.
  7. A positive and happy attitude.

Constantine also recommends employers keep an open mind when recruiting and not limit their search to only school leavers.

“In the current job market, there are many candidates looking to retrain and begin careers in new industries,” she says.

“Employers should not discount candidates they may not have traditionally considered – often they have transferable skills and offer a fresh perspective to the job role.”
